Learn, Play and Connect

Heartwell Golf Course offers instruction from numerous PGA and LPGA Professionals, available to students of all ages and skill levels but specializing in junior classes and camps. From private instruction to group clinics, these programs are tailored to the needs of each student to help individuals achieve their particular goals and objectives while improving fundamentals and connecting with others who share their interest in the game. Conveniently located near three major freeways, afterschool lessons at Heartwell Golf Course are easy to attend and an incredible value with our expansive practice facilities and seasoned golf professionals.

Programs and Instruction

Practice Facility

Heartwell Golf Course’s extensive practice facility provides the optimal setting for perfecting every aspect of your game in a controlled and focused environment. Tune your swing at our 31-station driving range, or sharpen your short game on our chipping green or one of our two full-size putting greens.

Individual and Group Instruction

We offer instruction for men, women, couples, and groups of all abilities, specializing in junior golf instruction. Lessons are taught by our seasoned teaching instructors, Paul Young, Danny Lee, and, Long Beach Hall of Fame Inductee, Phil Kessler. From golf fundamentals and fine-tuning to on-course instruction in strategy and shot selection, we’ll customize a curriculum tailored to your individualized needs.

Junior Program

The Junior Program plays and practices every Friday afternoon. For a yearly fee of $60 and $7 each week the junior attends the Friday class or plays on the course, the Junior Program teaches everything the children need to know about golf, from swing to on-course etiquette. As one of our most popular programs, Heartwell currently has around 400 juniors enrolled. The program director is Lisa Georgeson. Each junior receives a hat, shirt, sweater, and—at the end of the program—a bag!

Ladies’ Club

Having difficulty committing to a golf day? Need a group environment to keep you motivated? Join Heartwell’s Ladies’ Club, playing every Monday and Wednesday. Providing a better workout than a book club and a more social activity than jogging around the neighborhood, our Ladies’ Club encourages a sense of community among golfers while fostering some healthy competition.

Men’s Club

Open to men of all ages and skill levels, Heartwell’s Men’s Club offers a great way to play the course on a regular basis while connecting with other golf enthusiasts. Gathering for rounds on Saturdays and Sundays, the Men’s Group can be the highlight of your weekend with great company and a light dose of friendly competition.

Friday Glow Ball

Our Glow Ball events take place on various Fridays throughout the Summer. These are popular events held under the stars with the course lights off and include a BBQ dinner, green fees, a glow ball, and a drink. Long Beach Resident Discount Card

If you live in Long Beach, come by Heartwell Golf Course and ask about our Resident Discount Card for reduced green and cart fees. Available for purchase at Recreation Park 18 Golf Course, the Long Beach Resident Card provides discounted rates, as well as access to early and twilight times to better accommodate your busy schedule. To purchase, please provide a current driver’s license and a second form of verification with a current address, such as a car registration or a utilities bill.
